Congratulations to Mike Peedom (79) who contested all five freestyle events at the Australian Masters Swimming Championships. Mike, who swims at Queanbeyan on Sundays and AIS on Thursdays finished with a 3rd, a 4th and three 5ths even though he is his last year as a member of the 75-79 age group. Look out next year when he will be the youngest of the 80-84s! Mike’s times were faster than his swims at the NSW Long Course Championships held earlier in April.
Also swimming in Hobart was Max van Gelder at a bright young 93. Max who swims for Sydney club Warringah (venue for the first two Pan Pacific Masters swims in 1981 and 1983) is a regular with our oldies-group at CISAC or AIS on Tuesdays and thoroughly enjoys his coffee and chat after the swim.
