Three longstanding Molonglo Water Dragon swimmers have gone to a great many lengths to prove that they can go the distance in the pool. Marg Larkin wears her polo shirt marking her completion of 2 million metres (that’s 20 thousand lengths of a 50m pool) earlier in the year.
She is flanked by Geoff Llewellyn and Tanya Colyer who completed the Endurance 1000 program again this year. This is an arduous program involving a series of loooong swims in all strokes and individual medleys. Geoff completed his within the top times allowed and scored maximum points.
Anyone interested in undertaking this program, or just doing some long swims and sharing a coffee with friends afterwards should just rock up to the AIS pool on a Tuesday or Thursday at 10:00am. It’s usually open but sometimes not, but you can check lane availability for public swimming here: https://www.ais.gov.au/visit/aquatic/public-swimming
